Having designed by KITVAK and developed with the close interest and support of the Rectorship of Ege University and Governorship of İzmir, Ege University Kitvak Tülay Aktaş Oncology Hospital was put into service on May 18, 2004 thanks to the donations and contributions of benefactors. The primary objective is to provide full-capacity oncology service especially for the diagnosis and treatment of children, and also adults from Turkey and foreign countries. These services have been successfully carried out since it was established.
Our hospital was established on the area of 5800 m2. It is Turkey’s hospital with the highest capacity in its field.
With its 1 operating room, 6 transplantation (bone morrow transplant) unites with beds, 48 rooms, 4 of which are private rooms, and 88 bed capacity, it serves not only in İzmir, Aegean Region and Turkey but also for abroad.
It is a major BONE MORROW TRANSPLANT and ONCOLOGY TREATMENT CENTER offering outpatient chemotherapy for 50-60 patients, bone morrow transplant for 6-7 patients in pediatric oncology at the same time, and both chemotherapy and polyclinic services for 15,000 patients each year.
KİTVAK’s biggest work, “Pediatric Bone Morrow Stemcell Transplant Unit” in Ege University – Kitvak Tülay Aktaş Oncology Hospital is accredited and approved by The European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation-EBMT as a result of perpetual and consistent efforts made.
The Certificate of Accreditation was delivered to the founder of the unit, KİTVAK Board of Trustees Member Esteemed Prof. Dr. Savaş Kansoy by the Coordinator of İstanbul Bone Morrow Bank Esteemed Prof. Dr. Salper Diler on the date of August 3, 2007.
