KİT-DER period...
The story of KİTVAK, the Foundation for Establishing and Developing Bone Marrow Transplantation and Oncology Hospital, begun in 1991. In this year , KİT-DER was founded by Prof. Dr. Suat ÇAĞLAYAN to provide moral and material support for children with leukemia and to establish a hospital in future.
In those times, many artistic and cultural events, auctions were organized, the exhibitions with the paintings of children were held, and all the funds raised were used for the health of children in need.
The most important event was the great Fenerbahçe-İzmirspor football match held for the benefit of KİT-DER.
In those years, KİT-DER’s prominent and catchy motto was “It is nice to live with our children!”

Establishment of the Foundation......
The Society decided to establish a foundation with a great project. Together with 53 people setting their hearts on the same objective, including the Governor of İzmir Kutlu AKTAŞ and his spouse Tülay AKTAŞ, the Foundation for Establishing and Developing Bone Marrow Transplantation and Oncology Hospital, shortly called as “KİTVAK”, was established under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Suat ÇAĞLAYAN. Now, the objective is to establish an oncology hospital within the shortest time.
For the hospital within the body of Ege University, the University assigned a land following the application made to the Rector. The founding member, Master Architect A. Orhan AKBAŞ studiously designed the architectural project for the benefit of the Foundation. The foundation of the construction was laid with a ceremony on November, 1996 with the participation of the President Süleyman DEMİREL, the Governor Kutlu AKTAŞ and distinguished guests. Then, the hospital was named after Tülay Aktaş thanks to the great support of esteemed Mrs. and Mr. Aktaş upon the relevant decision taken by the Board of Directors and Rectorate.

EGE UNIVERSITY – KİTVAK TÜLAY AKTAŞ ONCOLOGY HOSPITAL
It was officially opened with a crowded group of benefactors and protocol on the date of May 18, 2004.

Following the opening ceremony of the hospital, the first guest-house Ege University KİTVAK Guest-House for Patients and Patient’s Relatives was put into service on October 7, 2011 as the second work, and then, our third work Dokuz Eylül University KİTVAK
